Corona virus (SARS-CoV-2)

Delivery situation

Dear customer, 

due to the coronavirus, we receive daily inquiries regarding supply chain security. In this regard, we can report that we almost exclusively purchase standard articles from China, for which we have alternative sources of supply in Asia or even in Europe. 

According to the information available to us, most of our Chinese suppliers are again able to manufacture without any restrictions, with a few suppliers there are small restrictions.

We also maintain a close and continuous exchange with our suppliers in Europe. From France and Malaysia there are reports of closures of various plants, in Italy production in most factories has been at a standstill since Monday, 23.03.2020. In the meantime we have also learned that many Indian factories will be closed until at least 14.04.2020. Since Monday, 30.03.2020, Spanish factories, which are not systemically relevant, must also be closed temporarily. The same rule now applies to ireland. A few German factories have also temporarily stopped production. 

Of course, we are continuing to monitor developments very closely in order to be able to switch sources of supply at short notice if necessary. 

At present, transport times are also being extended. For goods from China, this is mainly due to the fact that there are still too few containers in circulation. For goods from Europe due to the longer waiting times caused by border controls.

Should there be any changes in the delivery situation, we will inform you accordingly.

Irrespective of this, Keller & Kalmbach does everything possible with sales, purchasing, scheduling and other areas integrated into the supply chain to ensure that the supply chain does not break off.

Measures to protect our employees

We have already taken measures in recent weeks to protect our customers and employees while ensuring that our customers' business operations are maintained. For example

  • in our central warehouse there is no more sliding transition between shifts
  • hygiene and disinfection measures were increased
  • Extension of the possibility to work for employees in the home office
  • Reduction of direct contacts and meetings to an absolute minimum (alternative: online meetings)
